Here are several shots of fairings built for the
FWD bike. |
The above shot shows the frame for the front fairing made from 1/8 inch by 3/4 inch aluminum bar. Fairing is 20" in width. I also used 1/2 inch closed cell foam over the aluminum to quiet down the road noise...as is there is no noticable noise made by either front or rear fairings even over the bumps. |
![]() The above shot shows detail of the underside of the single sheet of coroplast. The lines are for cutting guides and are four inches apart. I simply cut on the lines by "sight" until I achieved a given curve of the coroplast. Then I attached zip ties...I think there are about 2 dozen in all, a bit of overkill probably. Next time I'll shoot for less. |
![]() An additional support was added to slow the up and down movement of the fairing over bumps. Support is made from 1 inch PVC and fittings secured by SS Straps to bike frame. A CatEye headlight is mounted to front underside of fairing with 3/4 inch PVC. The crazy paint job is simply black "splatter paint" over the stock white coroplast. It hides the white duct tape really well! And it matches the theme of the black bike frame with white splatter paint, which hides the welds.
