Entrance viewpoint (vp) is your entry point which is in the Southeast corner of the East Plaza. Looking to your left you will see stairs leading up to the Sundial and upper Labyrinth. Plaza Labyrinth vp shows the black and white marble tile flush-with-pavement Labyrinth. In the center of this you will see the Corinthian-Brass bowl containing the black marble "Witness stones". One for each annual completion of the volunteer-construction crews that built the original complex. Sundial vp will take you to the mid-level Plaza where an functional Sundial is located. Like the rest of the complex, this is made of white marble quarried from the local quarry. Upper Labyrinth vp takes you to the top level of the Ziggurat where the building which encloses the main Labyrinth is located. The labyrinth is composed of 1 meter cubes placed on the marble floor. Upon entering the Labyrinth there are three paths to choose from, all of which will take you to the "center". Even in modern times, many gardens in Europe and the Americas have labyrinths where many a pleasant journey is taken upon the pathway, thinking about life's journey along the way. Unlike a maze, a labyrinth will always end up at the "goal". There are no wrong turns. Cistern vp shows the in-complex water supply pool in the West Plaza. This pool is supplied with pure water by a nearby underground spring. Treasure Room is where the original vault and storehouse was located. This area is currently under construction and will eventually house the Artifact Museum. Underground Labyrinth is located next to the Treasure Room at the very foundation of the complex. The shafts of purple light coming through the ceiling are from the Upper Labyrinth's Amethyst crystal and light tube located approximately 50 meters above. |
